Brand Story

A father-daughter story: We are a father-daughter duo making ethical underwear, swimwear, yoga wear and basics for women in our family-run factory. Between Austria and Thailand, Delie, the daughter of the father-daughter duo designs in Vienna, Felix, her father produces in his small and fair factory in Thailand. Our goal is to make high quality-garments that are affordable, comfortable, and made to last, in a conscious way that does not cost the people and the planet. We are a slow fashion project making garments in limited quantities and detached from the seasons of the fashion industry.

Your Conscious Choice.

When you choose our eco brand partner, you help make the world more sustainable.

Brand Transparency

Who answered our brand transparency questions?

Stephanie Kastner – CEO at ESSENTIALS FOR ZULA.

Fair Trade

How do you ensure "Fair Trade" manufacturing? If your manufacturing or the manufacturing company you work with is certified, please list these certifications.

ESSENTIALS FOR ZULA has it's own in-house factory ensuring transparent, ethical, and honest manufacturing practices. Our in-house factory is located in Bangkok, Thailand, our fabrics are locally sourced from Thailand and our garments are produced in our factory in Bangkok We are actively executing all ILO fair trade criteria through the United Nations.

Social Justice

How do you ensure "Social Justice" with your internal and external corporate environment?

Garment production is, traditionally, is a very female-oriented occupation, but in our factory we have about 40% male and 60% female workers. We guarantee social justice and equal opportunities in our internal and external working environment and strive to improve where we can, year on year.

Organic Material

Which "Organic Material" do you work with? What makes this material sustainable? And what makes it better compared to conventional material?

Our range of bralettes are organic and eco, made out of GOTs certified organic cotton.

Recycled Material

Which "Recycled Material" do you work with? What makes this material sustainable? And what makes it better compared to conventional material?

We openly and actively share our improvement plans and shortcomings, to show that all efforts are being made to find the most sustainable approach for every collection. Our swimwear and yoga wear collection is not currently made out of "recycled" polyester but will be made out of recycled polyester or ECONYL as of next year.

Zero Waste

Which processes in your supply chain are "Zero "Waste"?

We try to handle our waste in a number of ways: just-in-time production, zero waste pattern design, and eco-friendly packaging to name a few. Avoiding large stock and only producing in small batches at a time. The fabrics arrive in rolls and the pattern planner meticulously arranges and squeezes as many patterns on the fabric as possible. This takes time, but is key to reduce excess cut-offs. Our orders arrive wrapped beautifully in eco-friendly rice paper or our branded natural cotton drawstring bag which is placed in a recyclable paper mailer. We issue digital invoices to reduce paper waste.

How can you ensure that at least 50% of your total product range is "Vegan"?

None of our materials or by product contain any animal fibres. We are PETA certified.

Cultural Support

How do you "culturally support" local traditions and communities, democratic politics and education, especially in the countries where your brand operates?

We support Thai tradition of craftsmanship. Crafting garments with the highest attention to detail and care.

Eco Packaging
