Brand Story
When I started Luna & Rose, one of my only goals was to be as transparent as possible. Oh, and making sure our pieces were made with the planet first and foremost beautiful jewellery made from recycled silver and everyday linen staples dyed organically from plants. So many companies tout transparency but only offer flashy headlines instead of actual, real-life substance. From the very beginning, I have chosen every part of the Luna & Rose process, from our raw materials to our facilities to our partners, artisans and everyone and everything in between. Come and check us out.

Transparency and Values
Human rights
We work hands on every day with our small team of Artisan craftsmen and tailors. No factories, no slave labour, no children. This means we know exactly who is making our pieces and under what condition. Almost all of our Artisans work for themselves meaning they too are their own bosses!
You will often find us sipping coffees with our artisans while we chat through samples, delivering them a fresh Nasi Goreng and checking in on them and their latest additions to their families. We are less a 'them & us' production system and more like ONE BIG FAMILY.
Animal Welfare
We do not use animal products or test on animals. Ouch!
We do not test or work with animals.
Culture
We support ancient old traditions across our Lost Wax carving process of jewellery and Organic Plant Dye method for our clothing.
Luna & Rose gives back a minimum of 1% of sales back to the planet through a variety of non-profits through the 1% for the planet programme. As a business in today's world, we think it is absolutely imperative for every brand & business to be giving back.
Materials / Ingredients
No product in the entire product range must fall under the LIST OF PROHIBITIONS.
100% of the total product range must meet at least one of the criteria materials / ingredients: CERTIFIED ORGANIC PRODUCT, MADE WITH CERTIFIED ORGANIC MATERIAL, NATURAL, MADE WITH SUSTAINABLE RAW MATERIAL, RECYCLED, UPCYCLED, SCIENCE-BASED, SUSTAINABLE BLEND, ECO PATCHWORK.
We use GOTS certified organic cotton and use organic plant dyes to dye our clothing. All of our plant dyes are safe enough to drink (although bitter tasting!) and have zero waste water as the extra dye juice is used to irrigate the surrounding fruit farms.
We use natural fibers that are sustainably grown to make our pieces, ensuring that at the end of their (very long) life, our pieces can return to nature when and if they want. The materials we use for our clothing include organic cotton, 70% hemp / 30% cotton and 100% flax linen.
Our sterling silver is all recycled from old electronics and post consumer electronic waste parts. Our solid gold pieces are also made from melted down and refined old jewellery and post consumer waste products. No mining here folks!
Sustainability
We produce in both New Zealand and Bali, where we have a store and our two head offices. We are passionate about local production and being closely linked to our artisan makers, it's why we exist!
We produce in small scale production so that we never over produce and promote custom design / made to order for a number of our pieces. If anything is sold out, we can always make it to order with our small artisan team. Our organic plant dyes are completely zero waste with all water being fed into neighbouring farms to irrigate their fruit plantations. Our colour palette is classic, designed to complement all seasons and defy trends, ensuring you can wear our organic dyed pieces for years to come. Jewellery can be melted down and re-molded into new collections.
Custom-made, Small scale production
Recyclable, Repairable, Non-physically durable (e.g. timeless colors)
We use biodegradable bio bags for our clothing, home compostable mailers and paper jewellery boxes.
