Why we love this place
No matter which Maman café you go to, each one has its own charm and delights with decorations that you almost only find in interior design or cookbooks. From the shabby chic style to the tableware and packaging decorated with blue flowers, everything is somehow unique. Maman in Tribeca is quite large and has plenty of seating and a huge counter with freshly baked quiche, baguettes, cakes (we love the pistachio cake) and more. When Elisa Marshall and Benjamin Sormonte opened Maman in 2014 in SoHo, New York City, their goal was simple: to create a warm neighborhood café that felt inviting rather than trendy. The name Maman is French for “mother” and reflects a melding of their earliest childhood experiences in the kitchen and a nod to their mothers from the south of France and North America. We love the packaging with blue flowers. Don’t miss their Maman Soho flagship, and be sure to try their Lavender Latte!
