What could be more sustainable than using resources that already exist and transforming them into like-new products? We not only love the sustainability aspect but also the creativity with which these designers upcycle post-consumer waste and deadstock materials into unique fashion and jewelry pieces. By reimagining what already exists, these brands push the boundaries of innovation, all while reducing waste and promoting a circular economy. We love it!

About the Brand
With a strong sustainability mindset, founder and fashion designer Sophie Claussen embraces circular production as a core element of her Berlin-based brand, AVENIR (meaning “future” in French), focusing on upcycling and waste reduction under fair working conditions. Since 2020, she has specialized in transforming pre-existing materials, particularly woven denim, into unique, high-quality made-to-order garments for the ‘Blue Line.’ The reinterpretation of denim is central to the brand’s DNA, balancing robustness with softness, and classic with modern. Her approach of using past materials to create something unique for a sustainable future challenges her creativity, which is clearly reflected in her highly fashionable collection.

About the Brand
CLED is on a mission to create beautiful, eco-friendly jewelry that takes sustainability to the next level. At CLED, they believe that discarded materials can be treasures to redefine modern luxury. CLEDs jewelry is not only stunning but also cruelty-free and ethical. Their journey began with the question of why we use animal materials, mass-manufactured plastics, or mined gemstones when we have high-quality existing materials available. CLED takes pride in craftsmanship and design that express individual character through bold accents and modern simplicity. CLED jewelry pieces are one of a kind and handmade in DTLA. We LOVE that!

About the Brand
While searching for discarded clothing in her Berlin-Neukölln neighbourhood, Treches designer Jeanette Bruneau Rossow found a passion for creating unique designs that showcase the beauty of upcycling. “As a fashion industry, we have recognized that even organic cotton uses a significant amount of resources, and we need to change our habits to protect the environment. That’s where upcycling comes in, and it’s where my passion lies” says Jeanette. She creates unique designs using sustainable and certified fabrics, such as organic cotton, hemp, linen, silk, wool, and recycled materials. Operating in a Berlin-Neukölln-based home studio, she uses a made-to-order system to produce sustainable fashion that combines loud elements and extreme contrasts in perfect harmony, while preserving our planet.

About the Brand
Yahmo is a Berlin-based sustainable fashion brand that uses environmentally friendly upcycled materials in their bomber jacket collection. They blend vintage patterns and colors with contemporary silhouettes. Yahmo has a strong sense of responsibility towards the environment and the people who make their clothes, crafting them in a fair working environment in Mumbai, India following high labor standards. The founders, Isabell Winter and Johannes Pautzke, came across beautiful sari remnants during a trip in India in 2016 which inspired their first product, an upcycled sari bomber jacket, and laid the foundation for their fair fashion label YAHMO. Yahmo mainly uses Cupro, Tencel and organic cotton. Additionally, they use durable sofa upholstery fabrics from a small upholstery shop in Mumbai for their Reversible Sofa Bomber jackets. They ensure that their products are made by tailors in Mumbai who receive more than a living wage and work in safe and friendly environments.
