Why we love this place

Borough Market, one of London’s oldest food markets, has roots dating back to the 13th century and has been at its current location since 1756. It operates as a charity, managed by volunteer trustees dedicated to benefiting the community through traceability, diversity, and sustainability. The market is open six days a week and features Three Crown Square (home to larger producers and merchants), Green Market (specialist produce traders), and Borough Market Kitchen (street food vendors). Surrounding the market are a variety of restaurants, bars, and shops that complement the experience. Recently, Borough Market introduced its first-ever Food Policy, outlining principles that guide quality, sustainability, and ethics. This policy will evolve over the next five years, shaping food standards across the market and ensuring it continues to serve both the local community and visitors.

Key Principles:

  • Quality
  • Environmental & Social Sustainability
  • Animal Welfare
  • Transparency
  • Health & Variety
