Why we love this place
Borough Market is one of the oldest food markets in London, with over 1,000 years of history. The market reflects the laid-back vibe of the diverse Hackney, with its natural charm and appreciation for creativity. Broadway Market is a long street lined with independent shops, artisan bakeries, cafés, bookstores, and market stalls focused on sustainability and craftsmanship. Many small businesses thrive here. In 2017, we met cookbook author Kylee Newton, known as The Modern Preserver who developed her chutneys and jams NEWTON & POTT in her nearby kitchen using traditional methods with an exotic twist. The tea shop TIOSK, offering natural, premium whole-leaf tea ethically sourced from the finest plantations, also started here. Both now operate online. Discover all businesses here.
