Why we love this place
When Elisa Marshall and Benjamin Sormonte opened Maman in 2014 in SoHo, New York City, their goal was simple: to create a warm neighborhood café that felt inviting rather than trendy. The name Maman is French for “mother” and reflects a melding of their earliest childhood experiences in the kitchen and a nod to their mothers from the south of France and North America. The SoHo location is their flagship—a charming spot ideal for coffee-to-go or a coffee date, adorned with unique decorations found in design magazines. We love the packaging with blue flowers. Don’t miss the larger Maman Tribeca location, and be sure to try the iconic Honey Lavender Latte or Lavender Hot Chocolate!
